A ‘kamakura’ is a traditional hut for children, made by snow, enjoyed in snow-deep areas of Japan. This is the beautiful Japanese design motif that this product has been based upon. Made of 13 perfectly calculated and balanced plates, creating a form of simplicity and fortitude. The KAMAKURA is not only built to be of a comfortable height/width/depth for the pet, but is also a beautiful piece of furniture, which is pleasant to the eye.

To paint the Kamakura 1SK, we use “Osmo color” which is both human-friendly and pet-friendly. It is a natural derivative, vegetable paint, harmless to the pet even if they lick it. Sunflower, soya, linseed and thistle oils are the basis for Osmo's wood finishes. Osmo's natural waxes are classified as food safe.

Each house, “KAMAKURA” (2kg / 4.4lb), “HOKORA” (1.9kg / 4.2lb), and “NEGURA” (1.5kg / 3.3lb), are lightweight.

Paulownia wood has been favored in Japan since ancient times as material for chests and drawers because, in addition to being light and sturdy, it is high in humidity control, high in insulation effectiveness, and high in pest control. For these reasons, paulownia wood has also been used to build shrine kagura halls, shrine repositories, and even castles. Such material, which has a natural ability to regulate temperature/humidity for a cool summer and warm winter is of course, effective as a pet house.

The hand-washable pentagon mat ( sold separately ) which fits perfectly into the HOUSE series, is selected cotton cover material made and is offered in limited quantity.

This is a produced by order item, so please allow for 1~2 weeks before delivery. The pictures posted may differ slightly in the wood grain and the color with the actual product. Cushion not included. Each house is skillfully handmade with care by craftsmen and are exclusively all “Made in Japan”.
